Gilbert Road in downtown Gilbert's Heritage District with the historic water tower

Heritage District Landscaping in Downtown Gilbert

The Heritage District is Gilbert's original town site, and today almost everyone just calls it Downtown Gilbert. It's the restaurant, patio and event core of town, so the landscape gets seen up close by a lot of people every night. Pro Turf keeps commercial landscapes here clean, watered and tidy from our yard a few minutes north on East Baseline Road.

Heritage District, Gilbert

Small lots, big crowds, lots of eyes

Also known as: Downtown Gilbert, Gilbert Heritage District

Downtown Gilbert has a 1925 water tower. Your planters don't need to look that old.

The Town describes the district as about 0.3 square miles, running along Gilbert Road from a third of a mile south of Guadalupe to just south of Elliot. It was named a Redevelopment Area in 1989 and an Entertainment District in 2013, and the plan has been updated in 2001, 2008 and 2018. Sites here are small and packed close together. A single property might have a patio, a few raised planters, a strip of street trees and a shared alley, all of it judged by diners sitting two feet away.

That changes the schedule. Blowers and trimmers before the lunch rush are fine. Blowers next to a full patio on a Friday night are not. We plan visits around opening hours, clean up the debris we make, and keep tree canopies lifted over walkways so nobody ducks a branch on the way to dinner. Drip lines in planters get checked often, because a stuck valve downtown means water across a sidewalk people actually use.

The 2018 plan calls for a car-free walking and biking path the Town now calls Water Tower Way, running north to south from Elliot Road to Juniper Avenue with a shared look for landscape, paving and furniture. If your property fronts that route or another public edge, we can help you keep your side consistent and easy to walk past. And yes, we know where to park the trucks.

FAQ

Heritage District: common questions

Is the Heritage District the same as Downtown Gilbert?

Yes. The Town calls it the Heritage District and describes it as Gilbert's downtown and original town site. It runs along Gilbert Road around Elliot and covers about 0.3 square miles.

Can you work around our restaurant's hours?

That's the plan. We schedule noisy work like blowing and trimming for times your patio is quiet, and we agree on those windows with you up front.

Our planters keep drying out or overflowing. What's going on?

Usually a clogged emitter, a broken drip line or a controller set for a different season. We check the zone, fix the part and set the schedule to match the weather and the sun on that planter.
