Papago Park Center Landscaping in Tempe

Papago Park Center is the large mixed-use business park SRP has developed in north Tempe along the Loop 202, between the buttes of Papago Park and Tempe Town Lake. It mixes corporate offices, apartments and hotels with canal-side paths. Pro Turf keeps commercial landscapes here neat and water-smart.

Papago Park Center, Tempe

Offices, apartments and the Grand Canal

Also known as: Papago, The Grand at Papago Park Center

A canal from the 1870s runs through it. Your irrigation should be a little newer.

AZ Big Media reported in 2016 that the park covers 350 acres, began development in 1988 and is managed by Papago Park Center Inc., an SRP subsidiary. Its final parcel, The Grand, is a 58-acre mixed-use project with half a mile of Loop 202 frontage between Priest Road and Center Parkway. The city now lists The Grand, SRP and Papago Gateway Center in its Papago innovation hub, minutes from Sky Harbor and on light rail.

The Grand is built around the Grand Canal, which dates to the 1870s, with multi-use paths on both sides and a water feature honoring Roosevelt Dam. That makes the landscape part of the commute. We keep path edges trimmed back, trees lifted for cyclists, and trash picked up before the wind decides where it goes. Large parking fields get steady weed control in islands and along curbs, where heat bounces off asphalt and stresses plants that would do fine elsewhere.

Mature office campuses here often sit next to brand-new apartments, so one area might need older trees thinned and irrigation rebuilt while the other needs young plants watched through their first summers. We walk each property, list what wastes water or creates risk, and fix that first. Need tenant-facing polish before a lease tour? We can make that happen too, even if the tour starts at 8 a.m. in July. Apartment communities in the park get the same attention around pools, dog areas and courtyards, where residents notice a missed visit long before anyone else does.

FAQ

Papago Park Center: common questions

Who runs Papago Park Center?

Papago Park Center Inc., a subsidiary of SRP, is the master developer, according to a 2016 AZ Big Media report. Individual buildings have their own owners and managers.

Is The Grand part of Papago Park Center?

Yes. The Grand is the 58-acre final parcel of the park, along the Loop 202 between Priest Road and Center Parkway, built around the historic Grand Canal.

Our parking lot islands look rough every summer. What helps?

Heat off the asphalt is hard on plants. We check drip output, replace failing plants with tougher desert species and keep weeds out so the islands hold up through July.
