Commercial Landscaping in Mesa's Falcon District

The Falcon District is the area around Falcon Field Airport in northeast Mesa, a city-owned airport that opened in 1941 to train British and American pilots. Today the district is known for aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing, plus busy retail serving upscale northeast Mesa neighborhoods. Pro Turf maintains landscapes for industrial parks, offices, retail centers and communities across the district.

Falcon District, Mesa

Established industry, established landscapes

Also known as: Falcon Field area

Falcon Field has trained pilots since 1941. Your hedges just need to learn to stay off the sidewalk.

Falcon Field covers 784 acres and has more than 130 businesses providing over 1,100 jobs. Around it, Mesa counts six industrial parks with more than 1,000 acres of industrial-zoned land. Many of these properties have been in place for years, so the landscape has matured with them. That means bigger trees to prune on a cycle, older irrigation lines that leak quietly, and shrubs that need renovation more than another shearing.

The district's retail serves neighborhoods like Las Sendas, The Groves, Mountain Bridge and Red Mountain Ranch, and the city's retail page cites a 1.7% retail vacancy rate as of December 2025. When tenants are this hard to replace, keeping them happy matters. Clean parking islands, healthy shade trees and entries without dead plants are part of that. So is timing: we schedule noisy work like blowing and trimming early, before stores open and shoppers start arriving.

Longbow Business Park and Golf Club alone covers 330 acres of office, light industrial, retail, hotel and residential uses. Mixed sites like that need one plan with different standards for each part, and we write the scope that way. An office entry, a warehouse fence line and a hotel drop-off don't need the same attention, and they shouldn't cost the same either. We walk the whole property first, then set visit frequency and detail level area by area so your budget goes where people actually look.

FAQ

Falcon District: common questions

Is the Falcon District the same as the Falcon Field area?

Yes. In 2015 Mesa began branding the roughly 35 square miles around Falcon Field in northeast Mesa as the Falcon District, so people use both names.

Our industrial park landscape is decades old. Where do we start?

With a walk-through. We look at tree structure, irrigation leaks and worn-out shrubs, then give you a prioritized list so you can spread renovation over a few budget cycles.

Are there landscape rules for properties near Falcon Field?

FAA guidance advises airports against plants that produce seeds, fruits or berries or that give birds dense roosting cover. If your property has its own plant restrictions, we follow them and suggest compliant replacements.
